The COVID-19 worldwide outbreak is affecting all 7.8 billion people in similar and special ways. We’re reeling from increasing COVID-19 related death rates, broken health programs, starvation and hunger, joblessness, lockdowns of varying seriousness, a shadow pandemic of violence, and it is merely the tip of this iceberg.
Some have made little changes, but some are made to create more fundamental changes. The Indian fashion market has reacted in thoughtful and intriguing ways. The garment sector employs 60 million employees worldwide, almost 75 percent of whom are girls. Girls working in the garment sector are represented in many vulnerable, marginalized, non-paid, and impoverished work areas.
The COVID-19 pandemic has a substantial effect on international garment supply chains. Global brands and merchants are canceling orders out of their supplier factories, and many authorities impose limitations on parties and travel. Because of this, many garment makers have been suspending manufacturing and firing or temporarily suspending their employees. Recent data indicates that more than a million employees have been terminated or temporarily suspended from the amounts that will continue to raise.
The effect on garment workers is catastrophic. People who are still working in factories are at considerable risk as social distancing is hopeless during their workday, and companies might not be implementing appropriate healthy and security measures. People who fall ill might well not have insurance or sick cover coverage and will fight to get services in sourcing states where medical infrastructure and public health programs were weak even before the pandemic. And for people who lose their jobs, they’re confronting months without needing to support their own families, have no savings to fall back, and extremely limited possibilities for earning income. Though some authorities are implementing strategies to encourage employees, these initiatives aren’t consistent and are insufficient.
Uncertain times ahead
The apparel and fashion business could be inconsistent in the best of times, but if something such as the coronavirus alters the planet, what happens next is anybody’s guess. However, for small and medium businesses, the future does not need to seem so dim.
The current ongoing situation has impacted a lot of lives and businesses worldwide, but the situation is improving due to the lockdown and vaccination programs that have been carried out. Once the world is out from the COVID situation the business with hit back the road with the full thrust thus helping revive the economy of various countries.
